Modernist church of 1932 in Kołobrzeg-Kostrzewno, formerly Protestant, run by the Franciscans since 1972, with a bell of 1805.
The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Kołobrzeg is a modernist church of 1932, built in the suburb of Kostrzewno. Until 1945 it was a Protestant branch church of the St Mary's parish, dedicated to the Saviour.
After the Second World War the church was taken over by the Roman Catholic Church and, as a branch church, belonged to the parish of St Martin. In 1972 it was entrusted to the Franciscans, and a year later the parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was established at it. A monastery building from the 1970s adjoins the church on the south side.
The tower holds three bells. The smallest, from 1805, bears the inscription Minerwa and is probably the oldest bell in the city. Its origin is not known. The two larger ones were cast in 1986 by the Saturnin Skubiszyński bell foundry of Poznań and are named John Paul II and Francis of Assisi.
