Modernist church from 1936, built for Protestants, Catholic since 1946, entered in the heritage register.
The Church of the Most Holy Saviour in Szczecin was built in 1936 as the Protestant Heilandskirche. It stands in Niebuszewo-Bolinko at ul. Słowackiego 1a and is one of Szczecin's monuments of modernism. It is entered in the heritage register under number A-62 of 2001.
It is a single-nave, rendered building in the modernist style, with distant references to the aesthetics of the Renaissance and Romanesque, visible in the stylised triforia on the tower. The tower stands on the left side of the nave. According to the heritage register the building was erected of brick, and the dating given is 1935 and 1936.
The plot at what was then Mühlenstrasse was bought in 1930. The resolution to build the church was passed on 19 September 1934 by the Protestant Parish Council, the foundation stone was laid on 29 September 1935, and the construction was completed in the summer of 1936. After the war the church was taken over by Catholics, although the Polish Protestant community had also sought it. The Catholic consecration took place in early 1946, and the church kept its former dedication to the Saviour. Until 1948 it was a branch church of the parish of the Holy Family, and on 1 October 1948 an independent parish was established. The interior was later enriched with mosaics in the chancel and side aisles, made with the participation of the painter Janina Spychalska. The presbytery next to the church was built after 1972.
