Three historic harbour cranes from the 1930s on the Łasztownia quay, restored and lit up every night since 2018.
Dźwigozaury are three historic harbour cranes on the quay of Łasztownia island in Szczecin, in the Międzyodrze-Wyspa Pucka neighbourhood. They are regarded as one of the symbols of the city.
The cranes were placed on Łasztownia in the 1930s and were most likely made by Friedrich Krupp AG. They were used to unload general cargo from ships until the early 2000s. In 2009 they became the property of the National Museum in Szczecin, and in 2016-2017 they were restored, including the return of their original colours. They have brown bases, green cabins and yellow jibs. The name is formed from the Polish words for “crane” and “dinosaur”.
After the restoration the cranes were fitted with lighting. At first it was switched on only occasionally, on selected days, and since 2018 it has been on every night.
The cranes stand on the quay next to the Maritime Science Centre, at Wendy Street 6.
