Goleniów 750th Anniversary Park

Goleniów
About Goleniów 750th Anniversary Park

The largest park in Goleniów, with wooden sculptures, a playground and a memorial stone.

The Goleniów 750th Anniversary Park is the largest town park in Goleniów, located in the left-bank part of the town, at Szczecińska and C.K. Norwida streets. It was created on a former German and Jewish cemetery and has kept the layout of paths from before the war. The Jewish cemetery was destroyed by the Nazis and no gravestone has survived on it.

Today it is a place for walks. There is a playground, wooden sculptures from Goleniów sculpture workshops, and a memorial stone with plaques in five languages: Polish, Czech, German, Hebrew and Russian, with the inscription “To the memory of all who rest for ever in the soil of Goleniów”. The monument was unveiled on the 50th anniversary of the end of the war. In 2018, during the celebrations of the town's 750th anniversary, the park changed its name (earlier “Park of the 30th Anniversary of People's Poland”), and the paths received lighting.
