Kamienna Buczyna Nature Reserve

Ińsko
About Kamienna Buczyna Nature Reserve

A landscape reserve on Lake Ińsko with moraine hills, erratic boulders and beech woods, crossed by a green trail.

The Kamienna Buczyna nature reserve lies in Ińsko municipality, on the north-eastern shore of Lake Ińsko, about 2 kilometres north-north-east of the centre of the town. It is a landscape reserve within Ińsko Landscape Park, established by an order of 11 April 1985. It covers 11.67 ha.

What the reserve protects

The protected feature is a landscape of end moraine with many erratic boulders, eight of which have a circumference of more than 4 metres. Fragments of acidophilous and fertile beech woods and of sub-Atlantic oak-hornbeam forest grow here, with many sites of protected and endangered plants, as well as rare fungi and animals. Nesting birds include the red-breasted flycatcher and the black woodpecker.

How to see it

A marked green hiking trail from Ińsko to Cieszyn leads through the reserve. The rules for protecting the reserve apply on the trail, so we move only along the marked route. Nearby lies the Wyspa Sołtyski reserve, and by Lake Ińsko a walk can be combined with looking at the water.

Practical information

  • Access: from Ińsko by the green trail, about 2 km from the centre.
  • The reserve is under active protection, and the current rules of entry are given by signs along the trail.
