About Orthodox Church of St Josaphat the Martyr in Stargard

Greek Catholic church on Młyńska Street, built from 2007, consecrated in 2015, with an iconostasis of 2020.

The Church of St Josaphat the Martyr is the church of the Greek Catholic parish in Stargard, on Młyńska Street. The faithful built it at their own expense, and today it is the cultural and religious centre of the parish.

The road to a church of their own

Until 2005 Greek Catholic services were held in the Collegiate Church of St Mary, and then, until January 2014, in the Church of the Holy Spirit. Construction of the church began in 2007. On Saturday 4 July 2015 the prestol, that is, the altar table, was consecrated and the church was blessed.

Iconostasis

The iconostasis was made in 2020. The wooden part was made by the Ukrainian folk sculptor Jan Matwij, and the icons were painted by Anna Kiłyk of Stargard and the Ukrainian icon painter Dymitr Horditsa.

The church lies in the historic centre, about 100 m from the Mill Gate and not far from the Collegiate Church of St Mary.
