A floristic reserve with white and grey dunes and a pine forest on the coast between Dźwirzyno and Grzybowo, established in 2017.
A floristic nature reserve on the coast of Kołobrzeg municipality, between Dźwirzyno and Grzybowo. It protects a belt of dunes and the pine forest behind them, a vegetation pattern that is increasingly rarely preserved in its natural form in West Pomerania.
The reserve was established on 8 July 2017 by an order of the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Szczecin. It covers 14.2 ha, all of it under active protection. The aim is to preserve the typical plant communities of the white and grey dune, together with populations of rare and protected plant species.
On the seaward side the first belt is the white dune, overgrown with sea sandwort and marram grass. Further on it passes into the grey dune, a grassland with everlasting flowers and sheep's-bit, and behind it begins a pine forest, in places with crowberry. In places with a lot of sun, at the junction of the white and grey dunes, heaths form with cushions of crowberry. Among the plants, three species of wintergreen, one-sided wintergreen, stag's-horn clubmoss and coralroot are also mentioned.
The area of the reserve extends from the middle of the beach to the forest behind the coast and lies within the Dźwirzyno and Grzybowo forest divisions. At the same time it forms part of the Natura 2000 areas: the bird area “Wybrzeże Trzebiatowskie” and the habitat area “Trzebiatowsko-Kołobrzeski Pas Nadmorski”. Along this stretch of coast you can look in at the seaport in Dźwirzyno.
