Forest park in Szczecin with beech woodland, trails, viewpoints and access to Emerald Lake (Jezioro Szmaragdowe).
Zdroje Forest Park is the north-western part of the Beech Forest (Puszcza Bukowa), covering 173 ha, and forms part of Szczecin's municipal forests. Beech grows here above all, alongside oak and pine.
The terrain is varied, because the park lies on the northern part of the Beech Hills. There are monumental trees here, among them an oak with a girth of 474 cm and a common yew with a girth of 143 cm. In the southern part lies the Zdroje nature reserve, and in the northern part old workings of a chalk mine. Before the war, on Grabowa Street, stood the palace and park of the Töpfer family, co-owners of the "Stern" cement works.
Trails, educational paths and routes to viewpoints run through the park: Akademickie Hill, the Eye on Szczecin (Oko na Szczecin), Skórcza Góra and Czanowskie Hill. The trails include the Family Trail through Zdroje Forest Park, the Trail to the Swedish Stone and the Trail to Emerald Lake. A separate trail leads to Emerald Lake (Jezioro Szmaragdowe) itself. There are also places for campfires in Widok Glade and Słoneczna Glade.
