Kasia Lins presents the project “Obywatelka K.L.”. The album features 13 songs by Grzegorz Ciechowski, both well-known ones and those that have lived in the shadow of his biggest hits. The artist becomes Obywatelka K.L. to reinterpret these pieces. According to the announcement, it is not a tribute but a meeting of a contemporary artist with one of the important creators of Polish music, and a story about obsession, desire, love and death intersects with Ciechowski's world.
The new versions are night chronicles. Cold-wave sounds blend with cinematic trip-hop, and raw piano with processed flutes. The whole is complemented by the sound of Ciechowski's original Yamaha EX5 synthesizer. The announcement notes that Ciechowski's work was marked by empathy toward the female perspective, and giving it a female voice offers a new look at his music.
Kasia Lins says: “I didn't want to make another tribute. I wanted to enter this world on my own terms, so these songs wouldn't sound like a memory, but like something that still breathes. This record is somewhat a conversation with a ghost.”
