A church from 1852 in Wieleń Pomorski: a stone hall church with a pulpit and stained glass from the 19th century.
The Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland in Wieleń Pomorski is a branch church of the parish in Chociwel, built in 1852 as an Evangelical church. It stands in Chociwel municipality and is entered in the heritage register.
The church is a hall church on a rectangular plan, without a separate chancel and without a tower. The walls were built of split stone with brick finishing of the details. The side walls each have three windows closed with semicircular arches, and the stained glass set into them, with images of saints, was made in 1884-1892. The Wikipedia entry describes the style as arcaded, the heritage register as neo-Romanesque.
The ceiling is wooden and beamed, and above the entrance runs a choir gallery supported on posts. A historic pulpit with a canopy has survived, together with a plaque in honour of Ludwig and Herrmann von Wedel, set into the wall next to the altar. The church was consecrated as a Catholic one in 1950.
