About Jewish Cemetery in Kamień Pomorski

Site of the former Jewish cemetery in Kamień Pomorski, with a boulder commemorating the pre-war community.

The Jewish cemetery in Kamień Pomorski was located at the junction of Rejtana and Chrobrego streets. It was established in the 19th century. During the Nazi period it was destroyed, and in 1968 it was closed down. The former cemetery cannot be seen on the ground, but a memorial boulder stands on the site of the Jewish cemetery.

Commemoration

On 3 April 2008 a boulder commemorating the Jews of Kamień was unveiled on the grounds of the former cemetery. It bears the inscription: "To the memory of the pre-war Jewish community in Kamień Pomorski". Apart from the boulder, the sources do not mention any surviving gravestones.

The site lies about 0.7 km from the Cathedral of St John the Baptist.
