Lake of 75.6 ha on the southern edge of the Beech Forest, with a stronghold site and a trail junction at the Łużec glade.
Glinna Wielka is a lake of 75.6 ha in Stare Czarnowo municipality, on the southern edge of the Beech Forest, within the Szczecin Landscape Park “Puszcza Bukowa”. According to descriptions it is the largest lake on the southern fringe of the forest.
The shoreline forms five bays, including Lazy Bay (Zatoka Leniwa) and Krzekna Bay. The south-eastern part of a former bay became cut off over time and forms the lake Glinna Wąska, a lake of its own, connected with Glinna Wielka by a narrow, shallow strait. The Wężówka stream flows into the lake, and the Glinna Canal flows out. At the base of the peninsula between Leniwa and Promna bays lies an early medieval stronghold.
At the Łużec glade, on the north-western shore, two hiking trails cross: the Stanisław Groński Trail and the PTTK (Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society) trail “Wiercipięty”. It is the most convenient starting point for a walk to the water. In the area lies the Źródliskowa Buczyna nature reserve, and in Glinna the arboretum.
