About Palace in Maciejewo

Neo-Gothic palace from 1899 on Lake Lechcickie, with a tower, crenellation and a manor park.

The palace in Maciejewo in Maszewo municipality was built in 1899 (the heritage register gives the years 1899-1900) on Lake Lechcickie. It is a three-storey brick residence with a varied massing, with Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Gothic forms. The register gives its style as Neo-Gothic, and the Encyclopedia of West Pomerania as eclectic.

Architecture

In the south-west corner stands a polygonal four-storey tower, and four projecting bays are crowned with pinnacles and crenellation. The main entrance is preceded by a terrace and steps. The building has an area of about 2084 m2. Of the former interior furnishings, tiled stoves and stucco work have survived. Next to it lies a well-kept manor park of 2 ha and farm buildings.

History

The estate belonged to the von Flemming family from 1672 to 1945. After the war the palace housed an agricultural school and a teacher training institute, in 1982-1988 a hotel, and since 1988 the building has had a private owner. According to the encyclopedia it operates as a hotel with a restaurant, so the park and the building are viewed from the outside.
