A Renaissance hunting lodge in Dąbie, Szczecin, rebuilt after the fire of 1592, now the seat of a public library branch.
The hunting lodge in Dąbie stands at Dziennikarska Street 39. It is a one-storey building in the Renaissance style with a gable roof and volute gables, a former ducal hunting residence. Today it houses a branch of the public library.
At the beginning of the 16th century a Gothic small castle of the abbots of the monastery in Kołbacz stood here, which after the Reformation was taken over by the Pomeranian dukes. It burned down in the fire of Dąbie in 1592 and was rebuilt in the Renaissance style as a hunting residence. In the cellar and on the ground floor fragments of late Gothic walls can be seen.
The entrance door is decorated with a rich portal, and the corner edges of the walls are rusticated.
After 1637 the building belonged to the Protestant parish, which set up a home in it for the widows of pastors. After a renovation in 1934 a care home for mothers with children operated here. The building survived the war, after 1945 it was devastated, and in 1972-1975 it underwent a thorough renovation.
