The remains of a castle from 1315 in Białogard: cellar walls with niches, left from a building demolished in the 20th century.
The castle in Białogard stood on a hill above the Parsęta, in the western part of the former ducal stronghold. Today only the cellar walls remain of it, and the building itself disappeared in the 20th century.
According to the zamki.pl website, a ducal stronghold stood here as early as the 12th century, later the seat of a castellan. In 1315 Duke Warcisław IV of Wolgast built a masonry castle in its place. It burned down in 1526 and was rebuilt in 1535-1541.
In 1780 the castle was demolished, and a building for royal officials was erected on its foundations. It burned down in 1910, and after war damage it was demolished completely. Cellar walls have survived with deep niches, a staircase within the thickness of the walls and a bricked-up entrance in the wall on the courtyard side. In 1969-1972 archaeological research was carried out on the site of the former stronghold.
