A listed villa by the railway tracks in Podjuchy, the former home of the management of a chamotte factory, damaged in a fire in 2022.
The villa stands at Niklowa Street 11 in the Podjuchy estate, on the right-bank side of Szczecin. It was built for the management of a factory operating next door, and zabytek.pl dates it to 1871-1890. The building is of brick and entered in the heritage register. Today it is a dilapidated villa, not a site to visit.
The Wikipedia entry gives differing construction dates: 1860, 1875 or 1901. In 1861 the factory, together with the villa, was sold to the Berlin merchant Karl Heinrich Seeger, in 1866 it passed to Karl Gottlieb from Schwedt, and in 1872 to the Berlin merchants Ferdinand Seehausen and Toepke. They gave the factory the name Pomeranian Chamotte Factory. After the Second World War several families lived in the villa, eight in the last period of use. The last of them was evicted in 2017.
In 2019 the building was entered in the register of monuments, and on 13 June 2022 a fire broke out in it that was fought for six hours. The roof structure and the wooden staircase burned down. According to the entry, a third tender for the purchase of the villa took place in 2023.
The villa has the form of a lying cuboid, with a façade accented by two projecting bays and a flat, asymmetrical mansard roof. It has two storeys and a full cellar. It stands only 5 metres from the axis of the railway track of line no. 428, along which trains run towards Szczecin Zdroje station.
