A reinforced concrete weir from 1932-1937 on the Piława, linked to the Pomeranian Wall fortifications, entered in the heritage register.
The fortress weir stands on the Piława River near Czochryń, in Borne Sulinowo municipality. It is a concrete hydraulic structure from 1932-1937, entered in the heritage register.
The heritage register describes the site as a reinforced concrete weir, dated to 1932-1937. The word “fortress” in the name links it with the Pomeranian Wall fortifications, which the Germans built before the war along the Piława. The Wall was under construction from the early 1930s, and the main defensive position, completed in 1935, made use of rivers, lakes and dams, among other things. The photograph shows a concrete sill with railings and water flowing over it.
Czochryń is a tiny village in the Starowice village council area, which in 2006 had ten inhabitants. A few kilometres away, in Borne Sulinowo, the Museum of Military History operates (6.3 km). Borne Sulinowo also includes Diabelskie Pustacie Nature Reserve (7.1 km).
