About Jewish Cemetery in Biały Bór

Jewish cemetery in Biały Bór established before 1785, with about ten gravestones and a plaque of 2021.

The Jewish cemetery in Biały Bór lies at the junction of Bobolicka and Mickiewicza streets. It was established before 1785, covers 0.1 ha and is entered in the heritage register (entry of 2022, dating: second half of the 18th century).

Destruction and present state

The cemetery was destroyed during the Second World War, and devastation continued later. According to accounts from the 1970s, some of the surviving matzevot (Jewish gravestones) were pushed into a ditch. About ten sandstone gravestones with inscriptions in Hebrew and German, remains of the cemetery wall and old trees survive to this day.

The site has been cleared and tidied. On 28 October 2021 a plaque commemorating the life and death of the Jewish community of Biały Bór was unveiled in the cemetery.
