A historic 750 mm narrow-gauge railway with seasonal services from Koszalin through Manowo to Rosnowo.
The Koszalin Narrow-Gauge Railway is a historic railway with a 750 mm gauge. It runs seasonal tourist services in summer on the Koszalin Wąskotorowy - Rosnowo Wąskotorowe section, which is part of the former line to Bobolice. The operator is the Koszalin Narrow-Gauge Railway Society.
The railway's website lists the stops: Koszalin Wąsk., Koszalin Wenedów, Koszalin Kretomino, Bonin, Manowo and Rosnowo Wąsk. The line runs along the Dzierżęcinka River and Lake Lubiatowo, and according to the website it lies about 15 km from the Baltic coast. The station in Rosnowo is by a beach on Lake Rosnowo. The website mentions "historic rolling stock" and the possibility of a guided visit to the locomotive shed in Koszalin by prior arrangement.
The decision to build was taken in 1897, and the concession was issued on 24 May 1898. The Koszalin - Nacław Narrow-Gauge Railway Joint-Stock Company was formed mainly by Koszalin County and the Munich locomotive works Krauss, which supplied the materials and locomotives. Services began on 1 November 1898 on the Koszalin - Manowo - Nacław section (32 km). In 1905 the Manowo - Świelino - Bobolice and Świelino - Białogard sections were opened, and in 1909 Białogard - Rarwino. The 750 mm gauge was chosen because lighter rolling stock was cheaper to operate.
In 1945 the Red Army dismantled the tracks and took away the rolling stock. The railway was rebuilt in the post-war years: the first train ran the Koszalin - Świelino - Bobolice route on 1 July 1948. The line is entered in the heritage register as a complex - railway line, dated 1898.
The starting station is in Koszalin, about 1.3 km from the Old Town Market Square, and the Museum in Koszalin is also close by.
