Ruins of a castle from about 1370 on a peninsula by Lake Morzycko, with fragments of ground-floor walls.
Moryń Castle consists of the ruins of a medieval stronghold on the Zamczysko peninsula by Lake Morzycko, north of the town. It is entered in the heritage register.
The castle was built around 1370 by the Brandenburgers on the site of a former Slavic stronghold. It originally stood on an island, which was later joined to the mainland. The gate led in from the west, and a rectangular residential building measuring 13.5 by 19 metres adjoined it from the south. At the end of the 14th century the castle was destroyed, probably by Swantibor I, Duke of Szczecin, and then, abandoned, fell into ruin. Fragments of brick and stone walls of the ground floor have survived.
The castle stands by Lake Morzycko, which is described under its own heading: Morzycko.
