A municipal regional museum in Cedynia with an archaeological exhibition, displays on the Battle of Cedynia and the crossing of the Oder in 1945, and a viewing tower.
A municipal regional museum in Cedynia, housed on the ground floor of a mid-19th-century townhouse at Wolności Square 4. The institution operates within the Cedynia Centre of Culture and Sport.
The museum was founded as part of the celebrations of the Millennium of the Polish State in 1966, and a year later it was given a statute and its present name.
The permanent exhibition consists of archaeological exhibits from the excavations at the Cedynia stronghold, its suburb and its burial ground, carried out by the National Museum in Szczecin in 1958-1959, 1961 and 1967-1985 and by the museum in Cedynia itself. The oldest exhibits, remains of a mammoth and a giant deer, date from 12 thousand years BC, and further on there are objects from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages: vessels, elements of clothing, parts of weapons and grave goods.
Separate exhibitions are devoted to the Battle of Cedynia and the crossing of the Oder in April 1945, with boards showing the course of the fighting and numerous military items. You can read about the memory of this battle in the area in the description of Czcibor Hill.
As part of a visit the museum also opens a viewing tower from 1895, on Kościuszki Street.
