A technical museum in a former tram depot, with a collection of vehicles from Szczecin, trams and an interactive science centre.
The Museum of Technology and Transport - Art Depot (Zajezdnia Sztuki) is one of the largest technical museums in Poland, established on 1 January 2006. It is housed in a former tram depot entered in the heritage register, on Niemierzyńska Street in Niebuszewo-Bolinko.
The Motoeksperymentarium is a science centre with 15 interactive stations: the first hall is about the construction of vehicles, and the centre is devoted to road safety.
The exhibits also include a simulator of the Konstal 105Na tram. A three-dimensional visualisation on the windscreen, covering a piece of real Szczecin, has been added to a cab cut out of a real car.
The collection shows the products of two generations of the Stoewer family of Szczecin.
The founder, Bernhard Stoewer, began with sewing machines, and his sons built a car factory. The museum presents Stoewer cars and motorcycles of the pre-war Alba company and the post-war Junak motorcycles from the Szczecin Motorcycle Factory. There are also Osa scooters, Komar, Żak and Ryś mopeds, and WSK, SHL and Sokół motorcycles.
The museum holds three buses and seven trams, most of which served the region, and the longest in service were the Bremen-type trams.
The cars are represented by Syrena, Fiat 125p and 126p, Warszawa, Żuk, Nysa and Star 25 vehicles, and the collection is completed by prototypes of Polish vehicles: Beskid, Smyk, Wszędołaz, LPT and Iskra. In 2010 renovation work in the historic depot was carried out, financed from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the European Economic Area.
