Palace in Benice

12a, Benice
About Palace in Benice

A Neoclassical Flemming palace from the years after 1867 with a veranda and a portico, surrounded by an 8-hectare park; today the seat of a school.

The palace in Benice is a two-storey brick building with an area of 1530 m2, built in the Neoclassical spirit. Construction began in 1867, and in 2005 it was entered in the heritage register. The facade is distinguished by a projection with the coat of arms of the Flemming family (a wolf and a goat), a glazed, richly decorated veranda and a portico supporting a balcony. The whole is covered by a hipped roof.

History and the park

In 1870-1945 the estates belonged to the von Flemming family, one of the richest in West Pomerania. After the war the estate was taken over by a State Agricultural Farm (PGR), and an agricultural school operated in the palace. Today the building belongs to the county office in Kamień Pomorski and is used by a school complex, so it is viewed from the outside. In the neighbourhood a forge, a greenhouse and a servants' building have survived, as well as a 19th-century manor park of 8 ha with two ponds and old trees, including beeches, yews and oaks.
