About Palace in Klępnica

A Neoclassical palace from the 19th century in Klępnica near Łobez, with a garden projection with Ionic capitals.

The palace in Klępnica is a two-storey building from the 19th century in a Neoclassical form with Art Nouveau elements, standing above a village on Lake Klępnicko in Łobez municipality.

The building

The palace has a hipped roof and false projections on the axis of the elevation. The most characteristic feature is the garden projection with Ionic column capitals. A small park adjoins the building. The heritage register describes it as a brick palace in the Neoclassical style, and the first entry in the register dates from 1989. The entry on the village describes the building as being under reconstruction, so the palace is viewed from the outside.

The village and former owners

The first mention of Klępnica (German Glietzig) dates from 1309. The estate was a fief of the Pomeranian Borcke family, and in 1945 it belonged to Kurt Splittgerber. The graves of the pre-war owners have survived in the village cemetery by the road to the railway station. The village also has a natural monument oak with a circumference of 425 cm.
