About Palace in Korytowo

A Baroque palace on the walls of a medieval castle in Korytowo, with a park from the 16th century, a hillfort and a viewing mound.

Korytowo Palace, also called a manor-palace, stands on Parkowa Street, right next to the church, in Choszczno municipality. According to the Wikipedia entry on the village, the building dates from the 15th to 18th century and was rebuilt in 1830-1890; the heritage register dates it to the 18th century and describes it as Baroque.

The building

The palace stands on the older walls of a medieval castle, with Gothic cellars. It is three-winged and single-storey, with a courtyard open to the garden, under a high mansard roof. The main wing is decorated with dormers and a three-storey projecting bay with an oval pediment. Above the entrance is the owners' coat of arms with a lion and a dwarf with a fish's tail.

The park

Next to the palace extends a park laid out in the 16th century. To improve the views a mound was raised in it, and the park continued as a forest promenade along the lake. The village also has a conical hillfort with an 18th-century ice house in its slope. Next to it stands St Stanislaus Kostka's Church, founded by the von Wedel family.
