An eclectic palace of 1914-1916 with a viewing tower above Lake Miedwie, the former residence of Friedrich Paulus, now privately owned.
Koszewo Palace is an eclectic residence in the southern part of the village of Koszewo in Stargard municipality, built in 1914-1916 on a high escarpment above Lake Miedwie. The property is privately owned.
The building is decorated with towers: at the corners of the facade stand low, cylindrical ones, and on the lake side a tall, octagonal one, topped with a viewing gallery and a double Neo-Baroque cupola. The entrance is preceded by a driveway and a four-column portico with a balcony. The courtyard of honour is flanked by small outbuildings, and behind the northern one stands a Neo-Gothic stud farm complex whose stables have sculpted horse heads at the corners. The whole is surrounded by a decorative fence with a wrought-iron gate. The palace was thoroughly renovated in 1993-1994.
Until 1945 the palace belonged to Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus. After the war it housed a training and recreation centre of the State Farm Combine in Stargard (Kombinat PGR w Stargardzie). At present, according to the Wikipedia entry, it is privately owned.
On the lake side a semicircular terrace with a view of Miedwie adjoins the palace, and below it extends a park of 5.4 hectares, laid out on two terraces descending towards the water. It was originally a geometric garden established in the late 18th century at a manor house that no longer exists, remodelled in the early 19th century and redesigned as a landscape park in the early 20th century.
