Baroque palace on the site of a castle from the end of the 13th century, with a library, a gallery and an exhibition of postcards.
The palace in Połczyn-Zdrój stands on a hill about 100 metres from Plac Wolności, on the site of a former castle. Today it houses a library, a gallery and an exhibition of old postcards.
The castle was built at the end of the 13th century by the Pomeranian duke Bogusław IV. It consisted of the castle proper, on a pentagonal plan, and an outer bailey. In the 14th century it passed to the Wedel and Manteuffel families, and from the middle of the 17th century it belonged to Brandenburg and Prussia. In the 18th century a Baroque palace was built on its site. According to archaeological research, the cellars date from the 16th century and probably remain from a defensive tower.
The building consists of two two-storey wings joined at a right angle, in the forms of modest Baroque. The façades have no decoration, and only the western entrance is adorned with a Baroque portal with steps. Inside, arches and traces of fireplaces have survived. Lake Kłokowskie lies nearby.
