Wiejkowo Palace is the ruin of a Neo-Renaissance residence from the mid-19th century, standing in a village on Wolin Island in Wolin municipality. It was built for the von Plötz family, in the type of an Italian villa, on the site of a former half-timbered manor house.

The building

The Wikipedia entry on the village gives the years of construction as 1846-1847, the Zamki Lubuskie website gives 1842, and the heritage register dates the complex to 1846. The palace had two storeys, side wings, a chapel and a tall tower with a view over Wolin Island. Above the main entrance there was the inscription “Soli Deo gloria”. It was surrounded by a park reaching the shore of Lake Ostrowo. At the end of the 19th century the building was extended.

Fate after 1945

After the war the palace housed offices and flats for state farm workers. After 1988 it was abandoned and gradually fell into ruin, and since 1993 it has been in private hands. Nearby stands the Neo-Gothic Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Wiejkowo.
