A private museum in the 14th-century Tower and Wolin Gate, with dinosaur fossils and minerals.
The Museum of Stones in Kamień Pomorski is a private institution run by the Sokołowski family, who also own the Mineralogical Museum in Szklarska Poręba. It is housed in the 14th-century Tower and Wolin Gate and has been open since 2001.
The display includes dinosaur fossils, among them skeletons of Deinonychus and Ornitholestes and bones of Tyrannosaurus, Allosaurus, Baryonyx, Coelophysis and Struthiomimus, as well as a fossilised nest with 33 eggs. The collections also include minerals, among them the largest amethyst druse in Poland, amber and meteorites. There are also historical displays: one on the history of the town and one with replicas of old weapons and medieval armour.
From the terraces of the tower you can see a panorama of the town and the Kamień Lagoon. A shop next to the museum sells minerals, items made of stone, jewellery and souvenirs.
