Private palace of the Borcke family from the 16th-18th century, the birthplace of a Prussian field marshal, now in ruins.
The palace in Stara Dobrzyca in Resko municipality belonged to the Borcke family, and today it is privately owned and falling into ruin. In the heritage register it appears as a manor complex with a brick manor house from the early 18th century, while the Wikipedia entry on the village calls the building a Neoclassical palace.
Stefan von Borcke is said to have built the seat before 1602, and the first manor house may have been built around 1540. In the palace Adrian Bernhard von Borcke, later a Prussian field marshal and minister, was born in 1668. In 1696 the estate was taken over by Kasimir Wedigo von Bonin, who rebuilt the seat, and in 1714 the owner became Ulrich Bogislaw von Bonin.
The register adopted the early 18th century, in line with documentation from 1976. The Encyclopedia of West Pomerania points out that the thick walls of fieldstone and brick indicate an older building, probably from the second half of the 16th or the first quarter of the 17th century.
