Museum in Bobolice with exhibitions of archaeology, ethnography, natural history, militaria and prison art, continuing the tradition of the museum of 1923.
The Regional Museum in Bobolice is located at Plac Zwycięstwa 5, on the upper floor of the building of the Municipal and Communal Cultural Centre. It is a municipal institution that shows the history of the town and its surroundings in five departments: archaeological, ethnographic, town history, militaria and natural history.
The first museum in Bobolice, the Heimatmuseum, was established in 1923 on the initiative of a local studies association. It operated until February 1945. The idea was returned to in the 1990s: in June 2002 a Museum Room was opened in the cellars of the cultural centre building, and in 2013 the institution became a regional museum and received new premises on the upper floor.
The permanent exhibitions include a historical section with archaeological collections and militaria, an ethnographic one, a natural history one and one of contemporary art. An exhibition of its own is devoted to prison art: the exhibits come from exhibitions of prison creativity organised since 2009. On the museum's website there are also galleries of old and post-war photographs of Bobolice and the series "Historia na weekend" ("History for the Weekend").
After the visit, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary can be seen nearby.
