The museum was founded in 1982. The manor was entered in the heritage register in 1965, and a second entry dates from 2010. The register defines its original function as a manor and dates it to the early 19th century.
The permanent exhibition leads from prehistory to the post-war years. It includes archaeological exhibits from excavations at Stręczno and Tuczno (grave goods, everyday objects, elements of weaponry), 17th- and 18th-century documents connected with the local starosty, mementoes of the period of Prussian rule, and exhibits commemorating the breaching of the Pomeranian Wall in 1945. Works of artistic craft are also shown.
The museum also runs the Fortification Open-Air Museum, the “Cegielnia” Fortified Group on Południowa Street, with remains of the German fortifications of the Pomeranian Wall from 1932-1935. You can read more about the fortifications in the town in the Pomeranian Wall Museum.
