A private year-round museum in Międzyzdroje with about 110 wax figures of actors, politicians, painters and fairy-tale characters.
A private wax figure museum in Międzyzdroje, open all year round. The venue's website calls it the Wax Figure Cabinet and says it has operated since 1998.
It began with 13 figures of Polish actors, politicians and John Paul II, and the costumes and decorative elements for the first exhibition were made at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw. From that period there remains an original cannon from the set of the film “With Fire and Sword”. Today, according to the museum's website, visitors can see 110 life-size figures: actors, singers, politicians, painters and Guinness World Records holders, and for the youngest, scenes from fairy tales and stories.
The Wikipedia entry also lists figures of historical characters (such as Leonardo da Vinci, Jan Matejko and Albert Einstein) and characters from legends and myths, as well as a “gallery of curiosities” of human oddities. The figures were made by a company from Saint Petersburg. The venue's website encourages visitors to bring a camera, because taking photographs is free of charge.
