Brick Gothic in three versions: the town hall by the market square and two of the three gates of the old town walls. A compact set for anyone who likes defensive architecture and wants to walk around the town in an hour.
Ratusz w Chojnie (Town Hall) stands at Plac Konstytucji 3 Maja 1, in the north-western part of the old market square. It is a Gothic-Baroque building with a dominant Gothic brick facade, rebuilt after 1945. Since 1986 it has housed a cultural centre and the town library, and its reconstructed facades count among the richest Gothic solutions in Poland.
Chojna was surrounded with defensive walls in the 13th and 14th centuries. They had three gates: Świecka, Barnkowska and Mostowa, and the last was demolished in the 19th century. Two remain.
Brama Świecka w Chojnie (Świecka Gate) dates from the 15th century and has a defensive gallery, battlements and small turrets. It took its name from Świecie on the Oder, today's Schwedt in Germany, towards which the road led.
Brama Barnkowska (Barnkowo Gate) on Bolesława Chrobrego Street is a Gothic tower gate from the 15th century with a viewing terrace. Its name comes from the village of Barnkowo.
