Things to do in Dobrzany: Lake Krzemień in Ińsko Landscape Park and a neoclassical church designed by David Gilly, plus a Jewish cemetery.
Dobrzany lies near Ińsko Landscape Park. A lake and a church fit into one outing, and the Jewish cemetery has its own section because it calls for a different tone.
The church is in the town itself, but the lake lies a few kilometres off, so you will need transport.
Krzemień is a lake in the southern part of Ińsko Landscape Park, about 4 kilometres east of Dobrzany and 5 kilometres south of Ińsko. It covers 233.35 hectares and is up to 29.2 metres deep. Beside it lies the Krzemieńskie Źródliska reserve, and the shore is free to visit.
Kościół św. Michała Archanioła w Dobrzanach (Church of St Michael the Archangel), at ulica Staszica 56, was built in 1782-1784 to a design by David Gilly, replacing a medieval church. Inside are a late Baroque altar and a ceiling painting of the Last Supper. For the town's history, including the fire of 1606, see about fires that changed towns.
Cmentarz żydowski w Dobrzanach (Jewish Cemetery in Dobrzany) is on ulica Mickiewicza. Laid out around 1850, it suffered destruction in the Second World War. It now covers only part of its former area. Beyond a wall that has fallen in stand an open gate and a pair of gravestones from the early 1900s. The site is a place of remembrance.
About 4 kilometres to the east, and about 5 kilometres south of Ińsko. The lake covers 233.35 hectares.
