Nature in Golczewo: Lakes Szczucze and Okonie in the Niemica channel and the Golczewskie Uroczysko reserve with raised bogs and a red trail.

Around Golczewo the natural layout is easy to read: the Niemica river links the lakes in turn, and forest and peat bogs begin beyond the town. Choose a place to suit the kind of walk you want, from lakeside to woodland. The whole town is described in things to do in Golczewo, and landscapes from other parts of the region sit in the category nature in West Pomerania.

Which natural places are there in Golczewo?

Two lakes and a forest reserve. They differ in depth, shore access and character, so each suits something different.

Lake Szczucze lies within the town on the Gryfice Plain, 7.8 m above sea level. Its average depth is 4.6 m and the greatest is 8.7 m. The Niemica flows from it to Lake Okonie, between Szczucze and Lake Samlino. Okonie is very shallow (the greatest depth is 1.8 m) and its shores are hard to reach, which is why bird watchers value it. You can walk through the forest to the Golczewskie Uroczysko nature reserve in the Golczewo municipality; it was created in 2004 and protects raised bogs and the lake Żabie.
