Things to do in Wapnica: the Turquoise Lake in Wolin National Park, a harbour with a marina on Lake Wicko Wielkie, and a 13th-century stone church.

Wapnica is the name of two villages that appear on one list: one lies on the island of Wolin, the other in Stargard County. The first offers water and views, the second a historic church.

What to see in Wapnica on the island of Wolin

The main stop is a lake left by a former chalk quarry, with a harbour on the Szczecin Lagoon close by. Both places are in Międzyzdroje municipality.

Jezioro Turkusowe (Turquoise Lake) lies in Wolin National Park, south of Wapnica. It covers just under 7 hectares, is over 21 metres deep, and its blue-green water gave it its name. The lake fills a pit from which chalk was taken to the Quistorp cement works in Lubin. For the story of the place, see about Quistorp's chalk mine. Entry is free. The lake and the harbour are grouped together under Piękne widoki: Wapnica (scenic views).

Port Wapnica is a small seaport on the eastern shore of Wicko Wielkie, and Marina Wapnica is its yacht harbour with 52 berths, taking boats with a draught of up to 2.5 metres. The marina opened in 2013.
