Churches and monasteries in Dębno: the brick Peter and Paul church of 1852-1857, St Anthony's church of 1933 and Our Lady of Fatima church.

Dębno's three churches come from three quite different eras: the mid-19th century, the interwar years and the late communist period. Each has its own story and its own shape, and all stand in town.

Which church in Dębno looks the most imposing?

Kościół Świętych Apostołów Piotra i Pawła w Dębnie (Church of Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles) at Plac Konstytucji 3 Maja is a massive three-aisle structure of red and clinker brick, put up in 1852-1857, with the Rundbogenstil (round arches) as its idiom. It echoes a Berlin church by Stüler. It began as a Protestant congregation's church, passed to Catholics after 1945, and Salesians run the parish.

Kościół św. Antoniego w Dębnie (St Anthony's Church) on Pułaskiego Street dates from 1932-1933 and has bare brick walls. The monuments register treats it as modernist, whereas Wikipedia calls it neo-Gothic. A wooden figure of St Anthony stands at the altar, and it now serves as a secondary church of the Fatima parish.

Kościół Matki Bożej Fatimskiej w Dębnie (Church of Our Lady of Fatima) on Harcerska Street was built in 1983-1994. Its cornerstone came all the way from Nazareth, from the Grotto of the Annunciation, and the community inherited the duties of the former St Anthony parish.
