Solo in Drawno: the castle ruin of the Wedel family by Lake Rudno, a museum in a granary and a Gothic church, three quiet stops for a walk alone.
Drawno is a small town on the Drawa river where you can sightsee alone and without hurry. The set joins a ruin, an indoor exhibition and a Baroque interior. The remaining sights are listed in things to do in Drawno, and more ideas for travelling alone gather in solo suggestions from across the region.
It is best to start at the castle by the lake, then move on to the museum, and finish at the church in the centre. The route is short and needs neither a booking nor a companion.
By Lake Rudno lies Drawno Castle, or rather its ruin: of the Wedel family's knightly stronghold, built around 1300, only the lower stretches of wall survive. Since 1958 it has been a registered monument. The Museum in the Granary in Drawno takes the second floor of an old granary and tells of the town and its surroundings, so it also works in wet weather. In the centre, at Plac Wolności 4, stands the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Drawno. The Gothic church of the 1400s burned in 1690 and was rebuilt; Martin Hoffman made its Baroque altar in 1696.
The surroundings of the town are described in Drawieński National Park: strict protection, mammals and research in the Drawsko Forest and Museums of small towns, both good reading before a trip.
The Museum in the Granary on the second floor of a former granary, and the church in the centre. The castle is a ruin, so it is best seen in dry weather.
The Wedels raised it on a square plan, on the site of an old Slavic stronghold. It dates from about 1300.
