Nature in Ińsko: three reserves in the Ińsko Landscape Park, moraine hills, a bog, beech forest and a wooded island on the deepest lake of the Ińsko Lakeland.
Ińsko is a good base for anyone who wants to see lakeland nature up close: glacial hills, boulders and old woods. The three reserves differ in character, so it is easy to choose one for a longer walk or a short outing. The whole town is described under things to do in Ińsko, and other landscapes of the region are gathered in the category nature in West Pomerania.
Which nature reserves in Ińsko should you choose?
It depends on what you want: a hill, beech woods or an island. All carry the nature tag and lie within the landscape park.
If you want to climb a hill, choose the Głowacz reserve, where the elevation reaches 180 m above sea level and the area includes a bog and erratic boulders. The reserve lies within two Natura 2000 areas. For forest and a view of the water there is Kamienna Buczyna, a landscape reserve on the north-eastern shore of the lake, with a green trail. The most distinctive is Wyspa Sołtyski, created in 1994 on an island in the deepest lake of the Ińsko Lakeland; beech and oak woods grow there.
The waters of the area are compared in the article Lubie, Ińsko, Wielimie and Woświn: four lakes, four characters, and the history of the town is introduced in the text on small towns of the New March.
