Monuments in Trzebiatów: the Kaszana Tower, the Gryphon dukes' palace, the town hall on the square and the medieval Old Town by the Rega.

Trzebiatów received its town charter in 1277 and is quiet and compact today. The four sites lie close together, so a short walk covers them.

What to see on the Trzebiatów square and in the Old Town?

The Town Hall stands in the middle of the square at Rynek 1, dates from 1701 and still houses the municipal office; Gothic arcades from its predecessor survive in the facade. The urban layout of the Old Town, entered in the register in 1955, has a regular grid of streets, a market square and walls from the 13th and 14th centuries.

Where are the tower and the palace?

The Kaszana Tower is a round tower of brick built in the 1300s and rising 21 metres, standing at a corner of the walls facing the Rega; it has a dungeon at ground level. In summer it is sometimes open for visits. The Palace at Wojska Polskiego 67 is a classicist building on the site of a stronghold, a Premonstratensian nuns' convent and the Griffin dynasty castle. Inside, since 1989, work a cultural centre, a public library and the Feininger gallery.

The town's churches are collected on the page churches and monasteries in Trzebiatów, and the fortifications of several towns are covered in the article Walls and gates of West Pomeranian towns. More addresses: things to do in Trzebiatów and monuments.
