Culture in Szczecin: Książnica Pomorska, Stara Rzeźnia and OFF Marina. Three places with libraries, galleries and street art, for rain and solo visits.

The list focuses on cultural venues that you visit alone or for a few hours in bad weather. All three carry the tags "Rainy day" and "Solo". They lie in three districts: Stare Miasto, Łasztownia and Pomorzany, so they can be visited separately. Museums of Szczecin are gathered in the overview of museums in Szczecin.

Where in Szczecin can you read, see an exhibition and look at street art?

Each of the three places does something different: the Książnica is a library, Stara Rzeźnia is a cultural centre in historic walls and OFF Marina is a space of galleries and street art.

Książnica Pomorska im. Stanisława Staszica w Szczecinie (Stanisław Staszic Pomeranian Library) at Podgórna 15/16 is the largest library in West Pomerania and one of the largest in Poland. It has operated since 1905. Readers get a room devoted to Pomerania, special collections and digital resources. Stara Rzeźnia w Szczecinie is a post-industrial building on Łasztownia, raised in 1888-1898 as the municipal abattoir (Tadeusza Wendy 14). It now holds the Euroregion Culture Centre: a gallery, a bookshop and a room for film shows, operating since late 2014.

OFF Marina w Szczecinie at Chmielewskiego 18 in Pomorzany is not a marina, despite the name. Galleries Freedom and OFF M work inside the raw walls, and street art decorates the facade. On Sundays the Bazar Smakoszy food market takes place here. More historic places in the city are listed in the overview of historic sites in Szczecin.
