World War II in West Pomerania: museums in former German bunkers of the Pomeranian Wall in Szczecinek and Mirosławiec, and the V-3 bunker on Wolin.

Four places connected with the military history of the region. Three are military museums, and the fourth is an architectural monument from a different category. The entries stick to facts and exhibits, in a sober tone.

Where to see remains of the Pomeranian Wall?

Muzeum Wału Pomorskiego i II Wojny Światowej w Szczecinku (Pomeranian Wall and Second World War Museum) occupies a German combat bunker from 1934-1935, part of the Pomeranian Position fortifications. The bunker has 21 rooms, and the museum shows an exhibition of military items inside.

Muzeum Walk o Wał Pomorski w Mirosławcu (Battles for the Pomeranian Wall Museum) stands at ul. Parkowa 1, in a culture centre building, and has operated since 1985. Its main exhibit is a diorama measuring 9 by 3.3 m showing the fighting to break through the Wall.

What is on Wolin island and in Szczecin?

Bunkier V3 - Muzeum (V3 Bunker Museum) in Zalesie near Międzyzdroje is a private exhibition in a bunker of a former German experimental range. It shows military equipment from the war, including the German V-3 weapon, and the museum offers guided tours with historical commentary.

The fourth site, Wiata peronowa na przystanku Szczecin Pogodno (platform shelter at Szczecin Pogodno stop), was built in 1973 in concrete in the Brutalist style and its status as a protected monument dates from 2019. It is an architectural curiosity, not a war-related site.
